Here are some ways that your kids and school can get involved:

Lemonade stand / Hot Chocolate Stand (for the cold cities)

All kids love lemonade. Have your kids help you make signs for the lemonade stand.  They will love making the lemonade for the sale.  As friends, neighbors, postal workers, etc. for donations.  IT WORKED FOR US!!!

Lemon Drop

Lemons to Aid and Soles4Souls have united!!! Set up a lemonade stand and have a shoe drop at the same time to benefit people all over the world – It’s a simple and fun way to get involved! Use your lemonade proceeds to ship the shoes you collect to Soles4Souls, and donate the rest to be used to send even more shoes to people in need!

Garage Sale/Yard Sale

Who doesn’t have stuff floating around in their attic, basement, or spare room that just isn’t used or needed anymore? Clear out the clutter and donate the proceeds. You can even sell yummy snacks and earn some extra donations!

Lemon Crew

Lemons to Aid and Comfort Socks have joined together in a partnership that will help homeless people of America receive the comfort of new socks.  This is another opportunity to make a difference and help others! Kids can gather socks at sporting events, create sock puppets or decorate a lemonade stand with socks!!! Use the proceeds from your lemonade stand to pay for shipping and donate the rest so we can purchase more socks!!

Birthday Party

Share your birthday with someone who is not as fortunate as you.  You can ask guests to bring an unwrapped gift or a coat for a child in need, a dog treat for the local SPCA, a donation to the charity of your choice or come up with an idea of your own.  You will feel good knowing that you are making a difference in someone else’s life on your special day.

Canned Food Drive/Virtual Food Drive

The North Texas Food Bank and Lemons to Aid are making a difference together.  Kids of all ages can get involved in a canned food drive. The virtual food drive is an eco-friendly way for kids to help others and the environment at the same time. 

Volunteer Center of North Texas

Lemons to Aid and the Volunteer Center of North Texas want families to get involved in community service.  To help guide parents to possible opportunities to serve in the community with their children, visit http://www.vcnt.org/ and click on the “Volunteer Now” button on the homepage. This will direct them to a site where they can search for opportunities to make a difference in Collin, Dallas or Tarrant counties through one-time service projects, some of which are family-friendly.

Cake Walk

This one will be a piece of cake to organize! Bake cakes with your kids – they will love it. Then get ready for your walk.  You will need a large enough space to put a table in the middle and have chairs around it.  Bring your ipod or boom box so you can have some fun tunes during the cake walk.  You can ask for a donation for each cake or sell tickets to participate.

Car wash

A car wash is always a fun way to make money! Your kids will have a blast playing in the soapy water and washing the cars.  They can hold up signs and ask for pledges while the customers go through the line. 

Dog wash

Who doesn’t want their dog to be clean????  You can offer a donation only dog wash to your friends and neighbors.  Make sure and have enough towels to dry the dogs.  Also, you can sell cute doggy biscuits for an extra donation. 

Bake sale

Bake some yummy snacks with your kids.  They can sell them to neighbors and friends.  You can also have friends over to decorate cookies for a small donation.

Dance-a-thon / Hula Hoop-a-thon / Jump Rope-a-thon

Get ready to bust a move! A dance-a-thon, hula hoop-a-thon, jump rope-a-thon is an easy and fun fundraiser. Ask kids to sign up to participate. Then have the participants get pledges from the community. Find a venue with enough space to accommodate the size of the group that will be dancing, hula hooping or jump roping. A school gym or a community center are good options. Provide beverages and light snacks for the dancers and supports. Be sure to have a small prize for the last ones standing!

Read-a-thon

Get your reading eyes ready! A read-a-thon is educational and enjoyable fundraisers.  Ask your class to get involved!  Get pledges from friends and family.  Example – If you read 10 books, you get a donation.  Come up with your own level of giving.  Your kids will have fun reading books and raising money for this cause.

Knit-a-thon

So many children know how to knit. Let’s use their hobby and turn it into a fundraiser.  Ask for pledges and then get knitting.  After the knitting is done, you can donate your new scarf to a local charity.

Dog Walk-a-thon

This is a great to meet your fellow neighbors.  Offer to take their dog(s) for a walk around the neighborhood for a donation.
